Paper Starlights

Unrivalled in design, beauty and quality, Paper Starlights are an atmospheric and stylish way to light a space. A feature lampshade for the centre of a room, a Christmas decoration for a window, a warm welcoming light for a hallway, Paper Starlights look great anywhere in your home. With their rich screen printed colours, ornate designs and intricate hand-punched detail, Paper Starlights are also fantastic for parties and will bring instant festival atmosphere to your special occasion. We’re proud to say that each Starlight is hand-made and fairly traded - and has been since 1996.

Last night was the Autumn Equinox – marking the end of summer and the beginning of autumn. This week we’re seeing an equal balance between day and night and the hours of light and darkness. But the balance is tipping as our autumn evenings lengthen and the night becomes longer than the day. So we’re busy getting ready for the new season and the launch of our new collection of warming autumnal colours – think orange and ochre with a few surprises thrown in!

Here’s a pic of our orange North Star – big and bold and as orange as they come – watch out for the atmospheric twinkles of light!

Huge thanks to High Peak Bookstore & Cafe for the wonderful location 🥰

We thought now would be a good time to tell you about a new design we’ve had under wraps for quite some time! Our atmospheric Dark Star is daringly different and guaranteed to be noticed! Its matt black exterior conceals a surprise – each tip is lined with vibrant rainbow-coloured card, creating contrasting multicoloured projections of light, visible through tiny star-shaped perforations.

We reckon it will make a brilliant nightlight and chillout light - and be a sure hit for Halloween and all-year-round Goths! Catch them on our Etsy page and website soon ✨

Back to skool! It’s a feeling that probably means different things to different people – but here at Paperstarlights we feel as if we’ve just landed after a few wonderful days away on one of those blasts from the past – a roadtrip!

So now it feels like a new term – a fresh start with new and exciting work ahead. And that’s all good! We’re also very happy because we’ve just been awarded a ‘gold star’ from #etsy on their brand new ‘Star Seller’ scheme in recognition of our sales and customer service. We’re very happy, so here’s a picture of some ‘gold stars’ to celebrate 🌟

A big thanks and top marks to all of you who have bought from our Etsy shop. And here’s our shop link for those who haven’t visited us yet! Hope to see you there soon!

Darcy on the Dancefloor!

She had a ball at Rat and Charlotte's wedding over the weekend and made lots of new friends.

She would like to say a big thank you to Rat and Charlotte Gregory-Ellis for inviting her (she's so polite ..) 🐾

A wonderful #wildwedding weekend spent #underthestars in a secret meadow in #derbyshire! After a year of delays they finally did it – Rat and Charlotte got wed 🎉

It was a weekend of community, coming together, fantastic food, and great sounds by DJ DrMatt, Facsimile band and Charity Shop DJ. Along with cocktails made from foraged ingredients and displays made from flowers lovingly picked and dried throughout the year! And if you’ve never had beech leaves steeped in brandy and soaked in gin – we suggest you start now!

The venue was fab – 3 tipis by Viva La Tipi configured together, which we decorated with stars. And as day turned into night and a full moon made its appearance, we all enjoyed fresh pizza and plenty more booze conveniently brought to us by Toad On The Road of #matlock!

Congratulations Rat and Charlotte - and thanks for involving us in your special weekend 🥰

Share the Light! Read on for a fantastic story!

A pandemic, lockdown and continued anxiety as society re-opens has made it a very difficult time for people, and issues relating to mental health and well-being have affected many. Dale Road Independents wanted to do something small to make a difference and initially started displaying stars in their windows as a message of hope and togetherness in lockdown. A number of stars were sold to residents, with £5 going into a 'pot' to raise funds for The Connection Space CIC to support their work to reduce isolation and create connections during lockdown.

Then Matlock artist, Nick Leake, was so inspired by the stars and the spirit of community, that he painted a beautiful Van Gogh inspired artwork he named ‘Starry Starry Road' to raise money. Now, a 'Just Giving' page has been set up to raise funds for the Connection Space CIC, with the added incentive that every £5 donation can be recorded as a chance to win Nick's fabulous painting.

To be part of the lottery to win Nick's painting, please visit the 'Just Giving' page here:
